So I have finished the blog theme. As you can see, the blog theme is the current version and it is based 100% on my new site design. I modified the design to be wider in the sidebar and smaller in the main window.
I moved the ‘Recent Tweets’ section to the sidebar, which was part of the reason for widening it.
I also moved some of the nav links around, putting the ‘Blog Home’ link at the top and at the far left, with the rest of the links in their original positions following the Blog Home link.
I took a preexisting theme and used that as my basis for how a theme should be made. All of the code is 100% original though.
It took a little time to get some of the plugins working though, because I had forgotten to include the wp_footer() function, which made it so WordPress didn’t include the footer code.
All in all, I am glad I finally got this done and I am glad to have my new design 100% up on my site through my main site and my blog. It was the first but not the last theme I will design. I can’t wait for some more blog designs, as it was actually quite fun to take a WordPress blog from bland to stunning.
I have been working on my blog’s theme for a couple days now. I am using the same design I used for my main site, just modifying it to work with WordPress, which for a first time WP themer, it is a bit of a pain.
I anticipate making the design public in the coming days and I am currently testing the design. It seems to be working fine except for a few issues with the Widgets, which is being worked on.
Keep reading in the next few days to find out more and to see the design.
Hello World!
What a phrase. This phrase has been around for what seems like forever.
At some time or other, almost every web author will use that term. I used it so many years ago when I made my first web page, though that was mediocre at best.
This is my first post on my personal blog. Soon, I will be converting my site template into a WordPress theme so this blog will look identical to my site.
That’s all for now.
The older I grow the more I distrust the familiar doctrine that age brings wisdom.
